Empowerment Project

Re-Joyce's Empowerment Project aims to uplift women and their families by providing comprehensive support and opportunities for growth. By alleviating rent burdens, the project ensures stable housing for women, allowing them to focus on personal and professional development. Education is prioritized, ensuring the next generation has the knowledge and skills to succeed. Technical training is offered to women, equipping them with valuable skills for better employment opportunities. Additional support services, including healthcare and counseling, further empower women to lead independent and fulfilling lives, fostering a cycle of growth and prosperity within their communities.

Community

We're thrilled that our shelter building is completed and is now providing safe housing for young women.

The shelter building rental also helps "self-fund" some of our other empowerment projects!

Opportunity

Education is essential for equipping the next generation to be successful income-earners! We currently support 4 girls who are attending high school.

$200 funds one girl including uniforms, full room and board, and school supplies for a term. There are 3 terms each school year.

Empowerment

We provide Technical Training for women. Training in skills like tailoring, weaving, baking, and craft making can help create job creators instead of job seekers. The training can also provide much-needed mentoring and support amongst women in the community.

Joy Delivered: Supporting Moms of Kids with Special Needs.

When a child is born with special needs in Uganda, fear and stigma often cause fathers to abandon the family, leaving single mothers to navigate severe isolation and hardship alone. Allen and the girls recently partnered with an extraordinary, creative local woman who turned her vision into a sanctuary for these families—sheltering 13 children full-time, providing daycare for others, and employing four workers to help care for them. Allen and our young women put on an event filled with pure joy, handing out vital supplies like diapers, milk, rice, sugar, and fresh fruit, while reminding these resilient single mothers that they are deeply seen, valued, and supported.

Support of a Single Mother

We have been supporting a single mother and her children who are working hard to overcome extreme poverty after the loss of her husband. Unfortunately, due to regulatory restrictions in Uganda, the family cannot move into our shelter. Additionally, the shelter's location is far from their current community support network and the children’s schools. Despite these challenges, we are grateful to be a blessing in their lives, and Allen continues to provide them with ongoing support.

Mission to the Village

Allen brought some of the women we serve to an area of extreme poverty in rural Uganda. This was an eye-opening experience for the women and a heart-warming one for all. They focused on the fact that bringing joy to others is a way to heal our own hearts. Many smiles were shared over a community meal.

Settling In

Geofrey worked on preparing the shelter building for the young women moving in. He purchased kitchen essentials and some living room furniture. The young women also brought items they had from their previous living arrangements. Move in to the shelter was a quick experience as most of the young women we currently serve attend a boarding school. Two young women have moved in, and others will join on school breaks.

Woman with Epilepsy

Allen has been emotionally supporting and coaching this young mother for a while. Recently, the mother has struggled with epilepsy and is not able to provide for her family. Allen was able to provide this family with food support. Allen has been coaching the mom and kids with how they can provide for themselves by making woven bags. You can see their craft in this video.

Another School Year

Here's a clip from one of the young girls that has received education support. She is currently attending the boarding school, and will spend time at the shelter building during school breaks.
